Happy Post-Halloween!

I was supposed to get into the Copper Rooms (the only clubbing place in Warwick) with my flatmates after all the getting-ready session at Dunsmere Hall, Westwood. But, tickets were sold out both online and on-door sale. Malang sial, got kicked out by the bouncers. All of them went in and left me in the cold with the stupid dirty lab coat. And, Copper Rooms is in the main campus, which means 30 minutes cold-walk back to the idiotic Westwood. Before starting off my everyday journey home, I got a call from Li Ying to go for a drink at Dirty Duck. It is one of the few restaurants at the main campus (all the restaurants in Westwood close at 4.30pm sharp and we even have our own library! That practically shows how deserted Westwood is. Plus, the formal name is actually called Westwood Campus. The alienated crib). Well, I had my first Halloween in the past 18 years. I must say, the getting-ready session was fun. By the way, the face mask was cut out from my pillow case and I accidentally cut my own finger. Hence, the real blood. Malang sial no.2.

I have just reached back from London. Back to Westwood; the hall I am staying in at Warwick. This place is where I call it, my home.

I realize how much I dread Mondays, which I will be counting down the days for the week to end, for the term and the year to pass by. I wish I could make the most of every moment here, but I just couldn't.

I always look for an excuse to getaway from this place, be it Birmingham or London. Or, the dead city called Coventry City Centre. As strange as it may sound, I feel as if I am left out whenever I am in a group of friends, hanging out in London. The only outcast for not being the London student. And I hate it so much when I'm always asked, 'Why are you here?' It sounded like a command for me to pack my bags and teleport back to Warwick.

I am now in Warwick. But, I feel as if I belong nowhere.

I sleep in the boring lectures, I dislike the fact I need to figure out how to eat for each meal, I hate the 25-minutes long walk from the main campus back to Westwood, I can't stand the cold and silent nights while walking alone, and I just don't understand why I am not looking forward to anything here.

I can't help it but, f*ck Mondays blues.

As unexpected, I never knew little things for instance; the London tube, mind the gap and a 4-year old kid could mean so much more.

This is my second trip down to London after a long-dreaded week at Warwick. As usual, everyone takes the tube. As usual as it is, the operator says 'Mind the gap, please.' And as usual, you will see adults and kids crowding the tube.

I saw this family of four rushing in and standing next to me, at one of the stations that the tube stopped. The husband aged around early 30s, was dressed in formal clothes as if work had just ended and he was holding his arm out to get a grip on the pole. The wife just simply stood beside him, lying her head on his arm while holding her shopping bag in one hand and her 4-year old boy on the other.

Then, we came to the next stop. The doors slid open, and the 4-year old kid was dashing out of the tube as if he thought it's the correct one. The wife shockingly yelled out aloud while holding on the pole, 'COME BACK HERE! NOW!' while reaching her other hand to grab hold of the kid. He looked puzzled and the second the tube started to tick, he darted off the platform and jumped in. And, of course, the wife was still in shock and asked the kid to hold on tight on the pole with both his hands, while hugging him from behind.

All these little gestures gave me a long thought on the tube; from the kid to the parents. From this little blonde kid, I had a thought of how I used to take things for granted. Because, in the end, I knew my parents are the ones whom will lookout for me; making sure I am never lost.

But, I am now in a foreign land; who knows if you're ever lost at 2.30am in London and encountered some drunkards at bus stops whom insisted you to hang out with them. Because, in the end, I am alone.. to take care of things by myself; from the stacks of laundry to surviving each meal. Well, it's part of growing up.

From the couple's reactions which I witnessed on the tube, I thought to myself; in 15 years down the road, will I be the one racing out behind the kid, who is taking everything for granted?

These little acts although seemed unnoticed, it reminds me of how many of us really mind the gap between our generation and the past, for taking granted on all these kind gestures showered upon us? Are we giving back what we deserve to have?

Our parents and us being a kid, growing up as a teenager and lastly, entering the parenthood.

And, it came to my mind that; it is all a life cycle, taking and giving.

After all, give all you can as you only live once.

This morning I had my lectures at the main campus. During the second lecture, the professor played a video called 'What is the purpose of your calling?'. It was short and straightforward, which students interviewed random people on streets with that question of why you're on this planet called Earth. All these random people, although I'm not really connected to them in any other ways, I felt as if I'm one of them. Most of them answered; to have a happy family. As the video kept on playing, I did question myself; what is my purpose in life? That, is something which I had always left it at the back my head. Now, that it really hit me, I do miss home.

After that, I questioned myself again; Why am I here? And, I was clear of my purpose once again the reason I am more than 6000 kilometers away from home; to make my family proud of me on my very graduation day.

That made me go through my days here. And, I will.

At every moment before entering the exam hall, I felt a sudden adrenaline rush. Never before I felt such a heavy burden on myself that this could change everything. I am counting on myself to finish strong before the ending line, that this is my final shot, and that my future counts on me.
Whenever I felt the urge to give up, this little voice shouts; finish your last mile, it's London.

This is all coming to an end.
All the adrenaline rush in MPH, the hysterical amount of stress, the endless complaints of how CIE A2 exams is meant for hysterically insane people, the late night sleeps to finish all the past years, the last college day to make all these happen.

It's the last mile, it is the final lap tomorrow.
I will savour every moment of this last one.

Weird, I know. I have lost my ability to speak or write in BM as fluently as I do last time. Somehow or rather, my BM had always been my better language, than English. Very wrong, indeed. Mainly because, I was from a Malay-medium school for epic seven years of my life. I could talk like any ordinary kampung kids with the 'Kedah-loghat' accent. Sometimes, it's really useful to scold foul language back at the Malays. It felt so satisfying because they can't speak my alien-language.

And, now.. I had to google to see if my BM was right. Hmm, seemed like part of me is missing. I used to score higher marks in BM than English, in the matter of oral tests or school exams. I don't know why, but it just was. Nowadays, I have to think before I speak in Malay or any kinds of rojak-Malay you can think of.

That is why it very much explains the title; something that left me thinking for some time. By the way, it's a Malay song by Peterpan called Menghapus Jejakmu. You can't blame the seven years of my life in a Malay-educated school, can you?

A2 trials ended today. In a whole, I wasn't prepared for all the papers obviously. That was the reason of my late night sleeps at 2am in the morning, which resulted in two blackholes of the Milky Way in the eyes with some red-bright giant stars on the cheeks, which resembled the looks of the active volcanoes in Himalaya.

And, to my fellow friends who are ending their very best paper tomorrow for the trials, goodluck in Applied Further Maths! Lol. Don't think of me while doing the paper, you'll love me even more, I bet.

With A2 trials down, SIX weeks up to the A2 Finals; the final showdown.

As for now, it's time to chill for a day or two. Perhaps, fishing or prawning and late-night drinks tomorrow will let our great minds rest. What say you?

Pretty solid reasons why I can't update more often. Also, pretty good reminders that I shouldn't be online doing nonsensical stuff; eg. watching YouTube and browsing countless times of Facebook. I could only find time today, just cause tomorrow I have only two hours of college for Math and Physics. Thank god, lesser assignments for today. Pfft, lesser by one set.

Jason Mraz's concert in Stadium Negara was the shitnitz. Most ingenious performance ever, enough said. Hands down. I had never been to a concert where everyone knew how to sing every word of I'm Yours and it was specially extended to seven-minutes long. I have forgotten to insert another additional piece of information.
After few trials of trying to unlock the spare tyre's rusty padlock, it turned out that the spare tyre had also burst and ripped off apart before I knew it. Somehow, we made ourselves home just in time, before being sacrifices.

Yesterday's plan was to watch Benjamin Button but the timing was little too off. So, we opted for Changeling, starred by Angelina Jolie. It was kind of awkward to see her portraying an all demure lady, as she used to be Mrs. Smith. Anyway, she got pretty in an ugly way of hers in the movie.

Changeling is a true story based on Wineville, Los Angeles. Jolie played Christine Collins' role in the movie, and she was the first lady to stand up against the corruption amongst polices with her ordinary citizen's rights.

Talking about Malaysian cops, I have so much to complain. But, I am afraid being thrown into ISA. Lol. Anyway, it is happening nowadays and it is inevitable, that soon all these will be used as solid reasons the government should change for the better. For instance, I parked my car beside Asia. And I did pay for the parking ticket, which was till 11.30am because my class ends at 11am on Fridays. Some things happened along the way before I got to my car. The thing was, the police issued the summon at 11.50am. Heck, what if I leave at 11.51am? I might be late for 20 minutes and I got a rectangular post-it note on my windscreen. RM 40. To add on this, I had another summon the day before I got this damn one. RM 80. 2 post-it notes. Like I don't have enough at home, thank you.

Polices are so efficient in giving out summons to citizens, ON TIME. But, they couldn't arrest thieves, serial killer, rapists, kidnappers, murderers ON TIME. We are just ordinary students, it's not like we robbed one of the houses in SS15. It is not our fault that there are limited parking spaces to accomodate all of us, that we have to resort to all these blame that we innocently take up. It used to be 20 minutes drive to Sri KL, and now it is 45 minutes to reach the round-a-bout. Instead of all the sex scandals they have, why not they just build a damn LRT station at SS15, saving us time and of limited parking sites?!

People nowadays are getting more insecure, for goodness sake.

Three-hour break and off we went to KL, just for the sake of beef noodle.
Surprisingly, I didn't sleep 3 hours straight in lectures after two bowls of them.

On the same day, my phone Nokia N81 died on me. I couldn't press the left, right, up, down buttons. Not only that I can't STOP the song Circus from playing by itself, I can't text & call and I broke the earpiece button too. It somehow broke symmetrically which made it look like a retarded butterfly.

To those texts and miss calls I didn't reply to, you know why now.
Nokia is a dumbshit.

Yesterday was a nice catch-up with the same ol' friends, from poker cards to filthy disgusting drinks mix peanut butter biscuits mix pineapple sweets mix Carlsberg mix Vodka mix Kickapoo mix soon-to-be-expired-margarine?! and etc lah.

It was the Voting Day for the new council board as well. I still remembered how relieved I was when the campaign finally ended. After all the stress when you see your competitors' posters all around especially Bryan's face (LOL!), the anxiety when you're waiting for the damn results, the feeling of gratification when your friends put up your poster behind their shirts walking around Asia Cafe and the embarassment when well, I'll save that up for someday later, I would like to go through the whole process again, NOT. I will miss it lah.

I wonder how things actually happened.
Across the different schools we're from, different attitudes we've got, different favourites and OCD-nesses we possess, somehow we have had crossed path with one another. It all seemed to be an accident. An accident, which had left behind footprints of some of the amazing people I've met.

Life is full of surprises, isn't it?

I remembered her so vividly calling out my name for my first Community Service; collecting rubbish during lunch in Form 3 for not tucking in my shirt.

I swear I was afraid to speak to her ever since then.

I remembered how amazed I was by this strict discipline teacher with her flawless woodwork, painted carefully together with Mrs. Lim in the bengkel after school hours.

I remembered the moments she offered me some of the kuih-muih she had before I left the bengkel; when I was working on the sports house decorations.

I remembered the way she complimented me on Graduation Night '07, 'Wah, looking good in hongky style ah?', which I replied with a smile.

I remembered the final moment we took a picture before I left high school.

For a teacher whom had never taught me a lesson before, you have left behind life's greatest lesson with all the kindness and passion a teacher could ever give.

Phew, I have decided.
It took me since December, to come to my senses that I have to.

College has always been like; college. From assignments to more meetings, to university applications, to the nonsense they serve at Asia Cafe, to the ever brilliant timetable for Semester III, to the morning traffic I've always yearned for and to the close friends who had left and are leaving soon; all seemed to be part of the daily routine.

Tomorrow marks the first day of Semester III. Time flies and I'll be stepping down from Student Council in a month or so. Today was the third-day back in college before our term officially commences, and it was also the third-time I came late to college; reached the very last minute to be the emcee. If I tidur mati again tonight, I'll be screwed... standing along the corridor tomorrow morning.

I snoozed my alarm a thousand times (maybe not, a few would do).

Today, I was one of the student helpers and also the emcee for the Orientation Day January 09' Intake for A levels. While being the emcee, I literally saw the me-I-used-to-be sitting down amongst the crowd and friends. Chattering away and anticipating, how college life would really be. It was a year ago that I was confused on what I want, what I will become and who I want to be.

It is now I see through the me I used to be, I know well enough now; what I am capable of doing and doing what I am capable of, quote York Hong.

In a year time, I'll be looking back at the one who was rushing into the world full of dreams and a world full of opportunities; perhaps the other side of the world.

For the present, let's all endure the remaining six months to see each and everyone of us, at the top of the world; being better than the best.

It is going to be a rocky ride ahead; should be back on track by now.

I'll skip MOS Euphoria because I had already posted it, so it leaves us to my birthday!

Here's the story:

YingXian just moved into a new house and she actually brought me there to visit her house before. I believed her that there was an housewarming on the coming Monday. Haha, so on Monday itself, I got ready and off I went to her house at 7pm (She told me 7pm mah!) So, on the way, she asked me to buy ice. Without a doubt, I went to 7 Eleven to get ice thinking 'Wah, so many people!'. It was actually too early, haha! Once I reached her house, I offered help to decorate the Christmas tree but, they said I might topple it because the tree is unstable and again, I believed because I'm kind of clumsy at times. While chit-chatting and busy freeloading some food (I seriously thought it was a housewarming! Nah, just joking, I ate very little), a cake just came out of nowhere... maybe from Kub's belly. (;

I couldn't be any happier, I must say. I wasn't allowed to touch the Christmas tree was because my present was on top of the tree in a SantaHat! Nice bunch of awesome people man ;D.

During the night of Christmas Eve, my family attended this Christmas gathering invited by my Mum's friend. It was all the way, high up at the penthouse of Rianna Condo or whatever it is, one of the condominiums in Tropicana. The nightview was breath-taking. My sister and I were literally standing on the roof taking pictures.

On Monday, a few of us decided to have an outing to SunwayLagoon which, we never knew that Monday was also a public holiday. But, once in a blue moon (perhaps, a very, very blue one) to get to ber-bonding with the UK friends who came back, so it was a nice catch-up. Every ride was crammed with long lines except for those really extreme rides that got all of us so hyped up, at least I did.

Initially, lagoon only had like 2 parks. And now, 5 parks which cost up to RM72 with a wristband that looked almost like a watch with some very hi-tech radio frequency in it. Anyhow, we played almost all the rides except those which made kids go 'yayyy!'. Apache pots is one of it, I hate Apache pots. Go figure out what kind of pots.

Sam, Kris, Mel and I had the G-ForceX, anti-gravity machine which looked similar to bungee jumping, just that it shoots us up like an elastic band. It was way higher than Solero Shot in Genting but, heck I don't care much. I might not visit lagoon in 4 years time again (even longer if I'll be going overseas!) and A2 will bury me in books and only, books. And maths equations wheee ;D.

For some reasons, I bumped into friends I wasn't supposed to bump into. There goes the reason why I asked to postpone FurtherMaths tuition. Oh, no. Hoho.

After lagoon, few of us went to YingSi's place to quickly change and feed our hungry stomachs at Sakae Sushi, Subang Parade. Melisa and YingSi went off to buy some slices of cake and I had to get the mega-huge-lighter-they-use-for-BunsenBurner-in-labs (because Sakae has no small lighters wtf) and kept it under my shirt. Damn, we're good at acting to give Sam a little birthday surprise in advance as time wasn't permitting. So, we had to rush and ran over whoops! (bumps).

I ate so much of salmon I think I might get sick of its sight again.

I've been saving up all the things I did during holidays in a post to round-up the year of 2008. Too much to mention how much I've learnt from a whole new college year with such a fast-paced world and life we're going through.

Not to say I'm wholly matured from the perspective of how I think and judging people, but I've embraced a new stage of life at the point, I see how my friends change, how worthy of each person that walks into our lives, and how I have changed myself from who I was.

People change, things change; for the better or worse, who knows.
Change can be upsetting or rather, wasted to go through such a phase.
One is unable to please everyone.
I just know I want to be the way I am, now.

Weekend's over and holidays just started. So randomly fast that everything has fallen into place. I have got all the replies from UCAS so far, except one more, just ONE. Good things come to those who wait and I will keep my fingers crossed. I will make that my coming birthday wish! Wohoo. (I don't think I'm supposed to tell out, am I?) Whatever lah. I love Further Maths. Hoho.

Over the weekend has been quite a fun one. Relatives came together and celebrated special events; uncle's newborn baby, Devyn and grandma's birthday. Been a long time ever since Chinese New Year this get-together-thing. If I'm going overseas soon, this might be the 'family' thing I'll miss. Wait, maybe more than just this. Definitely.

Somehow or anyhow, I reached home first. I unconsciously drove faster and unconsciously overtook them in a reckless manner. For that, I got lectured. Just that they drove slower, right? Oh well. My bad. It's a freaking going-to-topple-anytime-Kembara man.

Today's quite a nice day. Woke up early and met up with YingXian at Taylors' to do assignments and keeping up on each other's side. Did I just say I am damn good at digressing? So, we spent more than a whole hour in front of the computer in library and opening up infinity new tabs of Mozilla FirefoxES. And had the best Pork Noodle behind Taylors' Business School. I like pork liver, hahaha. Topped with blood. Ahhh, nice. Do you know the dirtier the food, the better it is? The theory just works that way, somehow.

I couldn't find any suitable medium to contain my excitement. Whenever I received an e-mail from UCAS which says; Your ucas application has been updated... & Please log onto your Track to check for universities updates, I swear my heart literally missed a beat or maybe more. It's like the moment of truth, no more like the moment of life-decision (what an ultra hyperbolic exaggeration). Yeah, that kind of roller-coaster feelings like you're going down from the peak, now.

It's either you make it or likewise, break it.

I got an offer from Imperial College! I thought it would be some other universities that will take a rather shorter time. IMPERIAL!? Never ever came across my mind they just sent me the e-mail while I was in Euphoria MOS. Lol. Ah, I was facing the screen for a minute or two. It seemed so surreal, very.

*I am not showing off fyi (actually I don't give quite a damn about how you think). I've got more important things to worry about than how you think of me, make sense? Just want to radiate happiness. Hoho. If you're not happy, then it's too bad, too sad, too anal. (:

Besides that, today marks the last day of Semester II. Class only had 12 people. Despite the fact I slept at 3-4am yesterday night, I managed to pull myself for class. Class ended rather early today, at 12pm. Open day and stuff. Stuff eg; bullocks like SriKL trying to pull an impressive image saying they're all that. Hope the director doesn't read this. Lol. Somemore, VP of Student Council is bad-mouthing the college. Lecturers always ask me to be a good role and example to others like tuck in your shirt/button your shirt/take off your studs/don't wear sandals!. I'm human, please. Not a doll, your doll.

As for why 3-4am, it was a long story cut short, I was at Euphoria MOS. Hehe. Good company, nice drinks, blasting loud music and rockin' dance floor. Unsurprisingly, it makes everyone at the state of euphoria. Everyone ended their exams on the day itself and it was also the last day of college for most of the people, just made it more crowded with Ladies' Night. More like Men's Night. Lol.

Clubbing doesn't make a good boy bad, right? Right? Cause we built this city! (Mind you, it was one of the songs which I remembered). I wanna be VIP too. Sigh.

Holidays just started and exciting events are rolling in (; Lets see if there are any updates soon. I agree with the fact that we do need exams and assignments, so that we will blog more often. I see a huge contradictory there but, our minds work that way I guess (or maybe it's known as a fact).

We are rebellious, for sure.

Wohoo. I wasn't late today. I got quite a nice parking. I never or maybe haven't got summoned before. Even my friend who is so darn lucky, got 'saman' on his birthday. That was quite long ago. And he wanted to know when is my birthday. By then, it's already holiday lorh (: I thought I was the last birthday boy in the class ever since I was small, till came in Su Yee this year... I look old meh? Why are people so surprised when I said my birthday is in December? I can remember the look. You-very-the-apek look. I remembered some people asked me to call them JieJie wtf.

And class was till 11am only today. Only 3 hours! The thing is, I got new FurtherMaths tuition. Yes, I love maths. I learnt how to sketch out flower-like graphs today, numbers are seriously magical. The teacher is so damn nice that I'm scared of her. I think reverse psychology is the in-thing. Besides this, my college FurtherMaths teacher is replaced (again) next year. Help! College or they call it Tolong Saya! seems to pull all the teachers there. Teachers are replaced again and again. There's no surprise we can't learn well enough. Still, the OCD teacher is still teaching us. Hallelujah lah.

Just watched Twilight on Sunday. I think the book is over-rated and people especially girls expect so much from the movie that it upsets them. I heard that there were riots/strike to protest against Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen. Since I didn't read the book and I expected it to be very bad, it turned out pretty good though. Pattinson is quite a vampire, just that Bella is like a log. Macam kayu. Stiff and so noob in acting. I thought it was going to be a quick romance show, it turned out to be 2 hours plus, I got cheated.

Catching Bolt tomorrow, I think. Class ends at 12pm! I think everyone is going to like Semester 3 next year. I can see all the empty gaps from Moral/Malaysian Studies and ThinkingSkills. Wohoo. And, friends wanna play go-kart next week! Should I go Singapore? And Sarawak too? Lol. Anticipating Marley&Me movie on 25th Dec. When you're given so little holidays, you tend to make the most out of it. A2 is torturous but I shall leave it to next year, joy joy.
